About Us
Youth Leadership Academy Australia is dedicated to empowering and amplifying the voices of younger generations. In alignment with our core values, the YLAA Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is a team of individuals under 20 that supports and contributes to the growth and development of our organisation.

About the Role
This role is ideal for a young leader with a passion for youth empowerment, a strategic and creative mindset, and a commitment to making positive change. Your role and contributions within YAB will help steer the direction of YLAA programs and ensure that the voices of young people are at the forefront of leadership development in Australia. You will work closely with the YAB chairperson, playing a central role in brainstorming and developing ideas for various programs and conferences. Your creativity will help YAB develop content that resonates with and empowers young people nationwide.

Responsibilities

  1. Meeting and Leadership facilitation
    1. Attend monthly YAB meetings; brainstorming, collaborating and working towards productive outcomes. 
    2. Report and communicate via slack to YAB chairperson on potential ideas and initiatives and the progress.
  2. Collaboration and Content Creation
    1. Work in partnership with the YAB chairperson and other board members to brainstorm innovative ideas.
    2. Create content for YLAA programs and events that align with YLAA’s mission.
  3. External Engagement and Inspiration
    1. Proactively seek external inspiration and best practices from other youth-led organisations, conferences, and leaders.
    2. Bring fresh perspectives and ideas to YAB meetings to enhance the content and strategies developed in collaboration with other YAB members.

Candidate Requirements

  • Creative and innovative mindset.
  • Energy and passion driven. Familiarity with YLAA’s mission and goals.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in alignment with the company’s objectives.
  • Commitment to participate in minimum one camp (e.g., Magic Moments, Ignite, NLC, NLF), minimum one YLAA conference, and minimum one YLAA program annually.
