OUR IMPACT
If young leaders are equipped with the skills and tools to create change at a grassroots level, we build a world we can all look forward to.
WHY IT MATTERS
The mental health crisis facing Australian students is not a future problem — it is happening now. YLAA's approach is deliberately preventative, not reactive: building the internal resources students need before crisis hits.
Drawing on three evidence-based frameworks, every YLAA experience is designed to strengthen the psychological foundations that protect wellbeing:
GLOBAL GOALS
YLAA's work directly advances three UN SDGs — each with a clear line to student mental health and community wellbeing.
YLAA builds protective mental health factors — autonomy, competence, connectedness — in students before crisis emerges. A preventative approach to SDG 3 at population scale.
By equipping students with leadership skills, growth mindset, and real-world tools, YLAA extends quality education beyond the curriculum into character and capability.
When students are empowered to lead change in their schools and communities, they become the builders of more just, cohesive institutions — from the ground up.
