Eleanor Carey is an adventurer, entrepreneur and advocate for resilience, courage and purposeful leadership. In 2018, Eleanor made history as the first Australian woman to row across the mid-Pacific Ocean, completing a 7,000-kilometre crossing from California to Hawaii as part of a three-woman crew. The journey took 62 days and tested every limit, physically, mentally and emotionally.
Far beyond the ocean, Eleanor’s story is one of backing yourself when the odds say not to. With a background in physiotherapy and a passion for human performance, she has since founded multiple businesses, spoken on international stages, and worked with schools and organisations to build cultures of confidence, capability and action.
Today, Eleanor uses her lived experience to empower young people to take ownership of their choices, face discomfort with intention, and reframe failure as a powerful part of the learning process. Whether navigating storm conditions on the water or uncertainty in everyday life, Eleanor’s message is clear: you are more capable than you think. You just won’t know until you start.
