Liam O'Connell

Regional advocate, international facilitator, mental health leader, empowering youth nationwide.

Liam, a proud regional Victorian, embodies resilience and purpose, fuelled by his own experiences of limited opportunities for regional youth. Growing up, he saw firsthand the impact of these limitations, driving his passion to create pathways that empower young Australians, particularly in areas where resources are scarce. Initially finding expression through music, Liam embraced creativity as a lifeline, a perspective he now brings to his work in youth leadership.

His journey took flight at just 14, when a transformative leadership camp ignited a lifelong commitment to empowering others. By 16, Liam was actively giving back through volunteer work, driven to recreate the same life-changing experiences he’d benefited from. At 19, he journeyed to the United States, where he studied facilitation and led programs at Stanford University, refining his ability to connect with and inspire young minds.

Today, as a National Tour Facilitator with YLAA, Liam leads programs on mental health and anti-bullying with a passionate focus on breaking barriers and creating genuine change. His sessions across Australia are known for their impact, blending insight, empathy, and an unshakeable dedication to youth empowerment. Outside of his impactful work, you’ll find Liam sharing his love of music in live performances—continuing to inspire through creativity and connection.
