Nick Pearce is a social entrepreneur whose work connects fashion, employment and community support. In 2015, he co-founded HoMie alongside Marcus Crook and Robert Gillies, developing a Melbourne initiative into a streetwear label that directs 100 per cent of its profits towards supporting young people affected by homelessness or hardship.
The initiative began by sharing the stories of people experiencing homelessness through the Homeless of Melbourne Facebook page. It developed into a retail concept that combined clothing sales with practical support, helping build awareness while creating opportunities for young people.
Nick served as HoMie’s CEO until 2023, helping establish its approach to combining retail with education and employment. Through the HoMie Pathway Alliance, young people gain paid work experience, accredited training and personal and professional development. Its VIP program welcomes young people into the store to choose brand-new clothing for free, alongside access to personal care services and time with the HoMie team.
Beyond his work with HoMie, Nick has contributed to youth mental health advocacy. As a headspace Youth Advocate, he featured in the organisation’s nationally televised The Big Stigma campaign in 2016, supporting efforts to reduce stigma around mental health and encourage young people to seek help.
His contribution has been recognised through the National Retail Association’s Young Retailer of the Year award in 2018. In 2026, he received the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the community through the not-for-profit sector.
