Born with an entrepreneurial spirit, Wil began his first business venture at the age of just 11 - an aviation website aimed at creating a less stressful air travel experience. Over the years, he built up this business both within his hometown of Collie, Western Australia and on an international level through social media.
Since the age of 13, Wil has demonstrated a willingness to step forward and take on leadership roles within his community, including his school’s Student Executive and the Shire of Collie Youth Advisory Committee. This led, in 2016, to Wil being sponsored by his local Bendigo Bank to attend the Magic Moments Youth Leadership & Business Summit, a five day residential camp in Sydney alongside 300 other young people from 10 countries.
In February 2018 – at the age of just 15 - Wil launched Youth Leadership Academy Australia (YLAA) with the mission of empowering future leaders. Led by youth, for youth, YLAA’s first event – a one day Western Australian Youth Leadership Conference – was held in Perth on August 28, 2018. The event attracted 65 students, who rated it as an overwhelming success in developing their leadership and confidence.
As well as facilitating meaningful youth conversations here in Australia, Wil has been privileged enough to speak at an international level. In June 2018, Wil was invited to speak at the Alakai’I Youth Leadership Academy conference held in Maui, Hawaii.
As an 18-year-old working against the odds after not completing year 12, Wil was accepted into the Australian Institute of Management to study his Masters in Business Administration (MBA).
Wil has now taken Youth Leadership Academy Australia nationwide, hosting and facilitating events, school programs and community engagement initiatives. Wil and his team have positively impacted over 10,000 young people, and are trusted by over 500 schools nationwide.
