🎉 It’s Spotlight Week 🎉 This week, our YAB is highlighting Silkwood School in QLD

It’s been just over a month since the YLAA National Tour wrapped, and with Term 2 underway, LeaderUp is officially in motion. We’ve already had submissions rolling in from schools across Australia, each one shaped by insights from the 48 Hour Challenge and turned into clear, focused areas for change.
We love seeing these come through and even more, sharing them with the community. This is where ideas start turning into action.
🎉 It’s Spotlight Week 🎉
This week, our YAB is highlighting Silkwood School in QLD
Silkwood has chosen to focus on classroom culture and communication, something many students will find deeply relatable. They identified that low motivation and increasing pressure from schoolwork are impacting daily experiences, alongside a need for more consistent feedback and support in the classroom
What stands out is their deeper insight; when expectations, communication, and feedback isn't clear or consistent, it creates a ripple effect. Students can feel unsupported, unmotivated, and disconnected, shaping a classroom environment that doesn’t work for everyone.
It’s an honest and thoughtful focus. By improving communication and clarity, Silkwood is working towards stronger relationships, better engagement, and a more supportive learning environment. We’re excited to see where this leads.
Across the country, other schools are also stepping into key focus areas, from redefining respect within school culture, to tackling litter, improving bathroom spaces, strengthening school-wide connection, and building pride within house groups.
What’s clear already is this: students know what matters. They’re thinking critically, and they’re ready to create change.
This is just the beginning.
See you after Week 3.
