It’s been a busy July; both the National Leadership Camp and the Youth leadership and Business Summit were two camps that 4 of our YAB attended. Below are some words, sharing what their experiences were like!
From Shraddha “Walking into the Youth Leadership and Business Summit as a graduate was a different experience to my previous year attending. Instead of wondering what to expect, I arrived ready to challenge myself, deepen my understanding, and continue building confidence in who I wanted to be as a leader.
Throughout the five-day program, we explored what it means to lead with purpose, serve others, and extend our entrepreneurship skills. We learned that building a successful venture starts with identifying real problems, understanding the people you want to serve, and being willing to learn from failure. We also discovered how unwritten rules and assumptions can sometimes limit our ability to think outside the box and improve.
The summit brought together like-minded and knowledgeable people, creating opportunities to build meaningful connections, develop confidence, and learn from inspiring speakers who generously shared their stories and experiences. Through team challenges, discussions, and collaborative activities, we gained new perspectives that encouraged us to think beyond our own experiences while building a solid foundation for our future in business and leadership.
Returning for a second year also provided the chance to reflect on just how much growth can happen over time. I noticed myself asking deeper questions, contributing more confidently, and connecting ideas across leadership, business, and personal development. It was a reminder that growth isn't always obvious in the moment, but when you look back, you realise just how far you've come.”
From Irelynn “As we left the summit, we felt motivated by the reminder that every experience becomes a stepping stone toward becoming the person you're capable of being. We're incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Youth Leadership and Business Summit and are excited to apply these lessons in our schools, communities, and future ventures.
We can't wait to come back in 2027 and continue to learn, lead, and grow, one opportunity at a time.”
From Vedrana: “This year I had the incredible opportunity to attend Burn Bright’s National Leadership Camp. Over the course of just four days, my views on leadership transformed. Through team activities, group discussions, and talks from speakers, I was able to make meaningful connections with amazing leaders, and I have come out of the experience grateful. Going into NLC, I believed leadership was about confidence, direction, and the ability to lead a team. Those things still matter, but I was pushed to see leadership as more. A practice grounded in values, service, grit and vision. Across the week, I was inspired by many keynote speakers who shared stories that were both honest and motivating. Everything I learned either challenged or added onto my previous ideas, and I’ve found that leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice, but it’s about using your voice for others. If I had to summarise the impact of NLC, I’d say that I feel more equipped to understand others, and committed to leading with purpose. As a part of YLAA’s YAB, I’m excited to bring these lessons into our work, and share them with others.”
The YAB are now working on a project that will encompass all the elements that they have learned over the 5 days at these camps, and come together as a team to continue to create change! Keep watch of this space
